Artists In Atlanta

Fourth day home from the Atlanta Gift Show and I’m only now beginning, to feel rested up. There was much to see, many to meet and I tried to take in as much as time allowed. I think I over did it.

On the fun side, there were many artists gathered and gatherings of which, I took full advantage. I couldn’t seem to get enough of visiting with so many, like minded souls. And all in one place, loved it.

One artist who was gracious enough to allow me to snap away inside his studio, really stood out for me. Tom Haney and his wife Paula Joerling hosted an intimate creative gathering in their loft home/studio spaces. There we were met with yet more, artist types. What an interesting and enjoyable evening. Tom’s art was unbelievable and many of his pieces are mechanical. My photos do not do justice to the wonderful details of Tom’s workmanship. A pure treat to observe!

Atlanta Adventure

I’ll be stepping out of my country, comfort zone for a few days and heading to the big city of Atlanta for the AmericasMart, July show. It’s extremely large and somewhat intimidating. The business side of licensing is challenging for me (and most artists?) so, I’ll be a bit like a “Frisch” out of water. However, when I discovered that several artists were planning a couple of social activities, I decided I needed to be there. Pal-ing around with artists, including a couple of “artist” gatherings, I ask you, does that sound fun or what? A rare opportunity I simply couldn’t pass up.

So, now I’m trying to gather thoughts and supplies that might come in handy. Once I get through this ironing, it will be smooth sailing, I mean flying! Eeeks, not my favorite either.

Moth Magnificance

We keep an outside light on throughout the night on one side of our house. So, at dawn I always check to see what kind of night life may have been attracted to it and stuck around till morn. I especially admire God’s creation of the wide variety of moths we see here, such as this one that surprised me this morning.

New Leaf

All extra and even some regular activities, have come to a screeching halt. Yeah!

Following the completion on several commitments, resting today, feels great! Tuesday morning will be another story. I’m turning over a new leaf! I plan to make an all out effort to regain control of self, schedule and surroundings. Taking a little time to regroup, re-focus, reclaim, re-evaluate, regenerate, reflect and reform? Sounds re-asonable, right?

Turning Over A New Leaf idiom: Make a fresh start, change one’s conduct or attitude for the better, as in He promised the teacher he would turn over a new leaf and behave himself in class. This expression alludes to turning the page of a book to a new page. [Early 1500s]
