Focus Adjustment

As creative individuals, we all understand being inspired by our surroundings. Today I am sharing some images of my studio that I keep displayed that help to inspire me. The art is from my “Woodsy Wanderers” and “Tiny Tailors” lines. Not only were these some of the most fun to do but also as I wandered through my surroundings one summer, I was truly inspired to do them. This art group also reminds me of a time that all of the elements, that perfect balance for a joyous existence was present. It was a blessed time.

As I am finishing up on a difficult job, I needed a reminder of a state of being that brings the joy to that “gladness of heart.”

The Painted Word

One of the commissioned projects that I am currently working to finish has been an interesting and informative one. The company is Fine Art Limited and is a publisher of fine art for commemorative events. During our first meeting I was presented with a copy of  “The Art of Prophecy,” a book compiled by the company’s president and founder, Jack B. Scharr. The book presents the fulfillment of prophecy from old into the new testament and the chosen art works based on biblical figures and events. The union of the artwork with prophecy conveys a written and visual description of the fulfillment of God’s word. Each Sunday, through the Lenten season, I would like to share some of this beautiful book’s images which include some of the most prominent of the great masters work’s.

The Rest of the Story

OK, this morning was the first time that I was faced with big trouble while blogging since I began. I lost today’s post trying to edit, lost a comment, pretty sure that I threw both in the trash and became completely frustrated. Technical difficulties will sure rob you of your joy, eh? The rest of today’s post included our snowfall of four inches and I’ll gladly take any and all the snow I can get.

God’s greatest show, snow.

Sunday Post(age)

Last evening I continued the search for likely candidates to use on the valentine project scheduled for today.  Among the many items retrieved from my dad’s work area last summer, I discovered his stamps.  An interesting, melancholy but beautiful look back~

Earlier in the day at a local shop, my daughter Kate and I found some wonderful Austrian post cards with incredible calligraphy. It was fun creating some of the coffee soaked tags incorporating both.

A “Special” thanks to my friend Diane Knott for offering some personal instructions! Don’t forget to register for her Valentine give away~ www.dianeknottsmusings.blogspot.com

Make A Wish!

I can’t forget to wish Jason, our son (in law) a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  While the guys take in the BIG game we’ll be cutting, pasting and enjoying carrot cake?

Wonderful Works

Yesterday’s flurries were especially fascinating to watch.  Rather than falling, the flakes seemed to float in all directions, suspended in the cold crisp air.  Snowy flakes are among my favorite scenes to watch from the studio window when working.  It was especially helpful in setting the cozy mood as I continue to tweak a “secret” Christmas art group.   The afternoon shifted back to sketching and dreaming up ideas for the new fall fabric line.  Later today I am looking forward to sharing the process and approach that I follow when developing art for fabric and embroidery with www.totallystitchin.net of Baby Lock.  The flurry continues, more art and more snow is on its way, might need to wax up those sled blades!
