A couple of weeks ago, I took a drive across town to pick up some of the “Christmas Traditions” ornaments at the Fine Art LTD gallery. It was my first opportunity to see the finished product and I was quite pleased with the final result. What a privilege, to be a part of this interesting commemorative collection and discover the meaningful story of a 500 year Christian, Christmas tradition. The Christmas tree.

This weekend the “Christmas Traditions” ornaments, dinnerware, prints and greeting cards will be available for purchase at the “St Louis Holiday Magic” show December 3rd – 5th, held in the America’s Center. Come by and see me at the Fine Art LTD booth and say hello on Friday, Dec. 3

For additional information and details on this collection go to Joy Studio’s October 25th post titled “Announcing.”

Do you remember my posts last June regarding our new church building? Well, we’re still going, the work continues primarily by volunteers. Here are some shots I took yesterday morning on our standing Saturday work day.
Recently, spreading mulch, hanging lights inside and out, getting tiles laid and sewing (grass) seed! You can see all of the progress at Friendship Friends.

When I saw this old book for sale and in pristine condition, I could not resist purchasing it. Upon receiving the book, I was finally, able to see what I had been missing on pages 78/79 in my dad’s well loved copy, that had been torn out. This is one of the books that I grew up with, looking at the pictures mostly, and I was probably the one responsible for the torn pages. “Favorite Tales” is a favorite book (sentimental) in my collection of antique and vintage children’s books.

Today I’m off to my first regional SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators) conference. I can’t wait to see, hear and learn more about Children’s books and all of the aspects that will be covered there. Plus, for added fun, there will be an illustrator workshop and portfolio review with Deborah Zempke!

What feels better than baking on a cold fall morning to take the chill off the house? And then popping in an old movie like Shirley Temple’s Heidi for cozy background sound. Banana nut bread, by the way, another fall favorite.

Maybe sampling the goods afterward with a late cup of coffee? Oh yeah.

Meanwhile, I check in on the hubs whose cleaning up a tree we lost in a spring storm. I had the easy job.

While I was outside, I couldn’t help but to have a seat under the spectacular oak again! I suppose this is a common sight to most of us throughout the country right about now, but I never tire of this site. I had to share it again. A golden day!

Yesterday, a combined effort went into an 80th birthday and a reunion with my hubs, very large family. It was another gorgeous October day and the party was held on the 72 acre lake at Simpson Park. This park was a new and really nice discovery to us so, we’ll be back. The celebration was complete with a colorful cake and lots of family, food, fun and games!
