Treasured Tuesday’s – My studio space is a wonderland of interesting items, some sentimental and others that were collected over the years. This volume of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” belonged to my dad and surprisingly there is no date, anywhere inside. Assuming it to be among his childhood books, I estimate it to be, approximately between 75 to 100 years old, and quite endearing.

The next page simply says “Printed in the United States of America By J. J. Little & Ives Company, New York,” but no date. I find that curious and wonder of the significance, if any.

The Paper Cut Outs page, I purchased a few years ago for the illustration quality. Who can resist anything Alice, right? Especially if they contain the classic illustrations of John Tenniel!

Are any of you quilters? Check out my friend Joan and her tips on continuous binding. It appears seamless!

And she’s using my “Tiny Tailor’s” baby buttons fabric on her sneak peek project, I just noticed, lol. See you at Quilt Market Joan.

I keep meaning to split this Hosta each summer before it gets too big to handle. It is the last survivor of several that I purchased many years ago. This variety is Hosta sieboldiana Elegans and gets a white flower around mid Summer. You can see here how much more it has opened in only four days.

Second to drawing, digging in the dirt is among my favorite activities. There just doesn’t seem to be enough time to enjoy it however, like I use to. Not enough muscle power either, ouch.

I love these shade loving plants. Above is my Hosta goal! Anyone else have Hostas? Below are two I would like to add found here – White Flower Farm

Crafting this past weekend was a welcome break from the normal deadline driven art schedule however, it will be put on the back burner once again. I wanted to share a couple of my projects as the final post featuring the Mary Engelbreit Home Companion Workshop. Both of these projects were taught by Charlotte Lyons and were created using cardboard and paper. The paper I chose to use is from two of my most recent fabric lines which, could also be substituted to create these fun projects. Still need to embellish, the fun part!
“An Appointed Time” fabric introduces at Spring Quilt Market May 21 – 23 in Minneapolis, Minnesota & delivers in June 2010.

“Hairraising Halloween” fabric just delivered to quilt shops.

Treasured Tuesday’s – Surprisingly there were shopping opportunities during the Home Companion Workshop reception last Friday evening. A little bit of everything that I like, including my favorite, vintage children’s books! The Gardian Angel book, in French, is especially sweet.

Also one artist book, The ABC of Color! And one that I will keep, as a surprise for later. These were an unexpected treat!

Sharing this morning – the new friends and the fun from the workshop weekend.

Mathew & Jennifer Meade conducted two of my classes and they were great!

I attended two of Charlotte Lyons classes also. I really had fun with her projects.

All of the classes were great learning opportunities and offered me some hands on crafting, which I had “far too long” forgotten. Especially the FUN part!

The last day of ME’s Home Companion Workshop, for me, began with one of those “God is in the Heavens” looking sky. This photo doesn’t truly depict it’s magnificence, however, the view on the drive into the city was an inspiring site to see and set the tone for the day ahead. The calm after the (last night’s) storm.

I was just going through the photos from the weekend and I decided that I’m much too tired to post them this evening. In total, it was a wonderful experience however, exhausting. When they said workshop, they were not kidding! Everyone in attendance was in complete agreement, it was a great time and we were glad to have taken part in this unique event.

Today was the first full day of the ME workshops and seminars. My first class began at 8:00am and the last ended at 5:30PM. Whew, very long day, but lots FUN! I felt like a little kid again.

Now, back to the good stuff, the studio tour!
