New Fabric?

Hints about the new fabric line you ask? OK Charlene, I’ve been thinking about this and so, hint number one refers to the fabric line to be released at Spring Market. Inspiration for this line was taken from a passage of Scripture, familiarized to many, by a song made popular by The Byrds in the late 60’s. I have been scattering a few subtle hints about this line and the one I am working on now for Fall, throughout this blog since I began. Shhhhh! If I don’t get into gear, it isn’t going to happen.

Sleeping?

“Somebody has been sleeping in my bed!” cried he; and in a moment added, “and here she is!” Not me, two nights, awake at 1:30am. Perhaps I’m thinking about that snake? Or a deadline?

Self Discipline

I plan to stay planted at this table today, with my trusty tools beside me. Must stay focused. Must not check E-mails. Must not blog. Must not answer the phone…..hello

Unexpected Guest

Creepy! While writing an E-mail last evening I heard the slightest rustle of a paper bag to my left. Suddenly it dawned on me, what would make that kind of a noise about ten feet to my left? I glanced in that direction, began to get up to investigate and there he was, a big black snake! Inside! Living in the woods I am use to being mindful of snakes when I’m outside but inside? So, how did he get in and how long has he been a visitor? Eeks. We kindly released him outdoors where he slithered beneath the landscaped stone wall. See you next Spring, OUTSIDE!

The Black Rat Snake (Elaphe obsoleta) — also called pilot black snake or simply black snake[1] — is a non-venomous colubrid species found in North America. It prefers heavily wooded areas and is known for having excellent climbing ability, including the ability to climb the trunk of large mature trees without the aid of branches. No subspecies are currently recognized.

Length may range from 42 to 72 inches, making the black rat snake one of Missouri’s largest snakes. This species is well-known for its ability to climb trees. They are found statewide and live in a variety of habitats, including rocky wooded hillsides, wooded riverbanks, in or near farm buildings and in large brush piles.

St. Valentine

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

Bit of HistoryValentine was a holy priest in Rome, who, with St. Marius and his family, assisted the martyrs in the persecution under Claudius II. He was apprehended, and sent by the emperor to the prefect of Rome, who, on finding all his promises to make him renounce his faith in effectual, commended him to be beaten with clubs, and afterwards, to be beheaded, which was executed on February 14, about the year 270. Archaeologists unearthed a Roman catacomb and an ancient church dedicated to Saint Valentine. In 496 AD Pope Gelasius marked February 14th as a celebration in honor of his martyrdom.

Balance

Still struggling to achieve that elusive “healthy balance” of all that we try to fit into our busy lives. Seems to be an ongoing goal. Walking is the one healthy activity that has worked for my schedule or is most consistent, although, I’ve even abandoned that for many months. Today, will be three days of WALKING in a row! Next on my list for 2010, strengthening exercise, eating right and cutting down on caffeine to name a few.
