Healthy Color

Well, I made it to the grocery store and returned with the healthy stuff. Taking the time to read the labels of everything I was buying, took additional time. I think I may have set a record for the longest grocery shopping experience.

The report I mentioned on Monday’s post was lengthy and the section on supplements is going to take more time to investigate. What I’ve read so far makes a lot of sense and I think it was a worth while purchase.

Some of the report included the commonly known healthy choices that we should already be making. However it also offers much information on nutrients, exercise, sleep, stress, meditation (I’ll call prayer), etc., some of which I was not aware, such as sea salt.

Who knew, sea salt, make the switch.

So, bringing home the colorful food is only the beginning to this natural approach of controlling blood pressure and a new way of living.

These are two of my healthiest pieces of art, both from my “Home Grown” collection.

Come Up-ins

Regarding my recent post on struggling to achieve a healthy balance, it has become apparent that I must take the issue a bit more seriously. After the holiday’s festivities and extending the fairly steady diet of treats, pie, cookies, cakes & candy, I am getting my just desserts! My come up-ins! Yep, the party’s over. I’ve officially joined the 65 million Americans (American Heart Association) with high blood pressure and the condition definitely has my full attention.

A Yummy Batch of Oatmeal Cookies

So, the plan is to try the natural approach. Over the weekend a search turned up this report “High Blood Pressure Remedy Report” so, I’m reading up and going grocery shopping for the healthy stuff.

Although these were yummy cookies , the only healthy ingredient was oatmeal.

Afternoon Tea

Still trying to switch over to tea from my usual afternoon pot of coffee, in hopes of a better nights sleep. Not sure it’s working; 3:00am, again.

This cream & sugar bowl belonging to my husband’s grandmother and my friends enamelware tea pot were the perfect candidates for one of my earlier greeting card images. The original art is in full color and this result was my third attempt following two others that I was not satisfied with. I like the shape of this pot.

Sounds Like Spring

Standing outside this morning after some late night showers, I observed a heavy, low lying mist through the woods. Loaned out my camera so no pics. To accompany the mystical appearance that was dawning on this very Spring like day, was a chirping symphony. Then suddenly, my favorite sound, some honking geese flying overhead. I never tire of that sound.

Prisma pencils on colored paper

The image is another of my oldies plucked from the art class archives as you can see from the date. Only an exercise from design class, not an actual cover candidate.

Loosing Sleep?

I’m back to counting sheep again. Three O’ Clock, am and already I’ve been up an hour and a half. One, two, three…… zzzz zz z

Reflecting

Looking through some very old sketches yesterday caused me to take a look back at an interesting exercise. I attended the community college for their art program in the early 90’s. During an entire semester we were given an assignment to do a self portrait, once a week, for the entire semester. It was a study that forced one to take a really good look in the mirror. Early on, it was difficult to recognize my likeness. This reflected image was as close as I could get and the final result. It’s difficult to judge if the outcome was more influenced by an artist’s skill or the way we see ourselves. I liked the sketch that I did one week before this however, my insensitive instructor expressed that it was not an accurate rendition but rather, one that made me appear better than I really did! It was an interesting and difficult assignment but one I recommend to try. If you are a willing model it’s a good way to sharpen your skills!
