We’re back from the Jam and into market mode. Quilt Market, in two weeks.
Art Biz Jam was stupendous, what can I say.
A beautiful beach . . .
Art Licensing seminar with guest speaker Ingid Liss (Demdaco) . .
A roomful of artists . . . . .
And my daughter, Kate.
Time Out
IT’S HERE ALREADY!
I signed up months ago when it seamed like a far off, fun way to spend a few days in an attempt, to rest, refresh and refocus on, the (my) art. Where it came from and possibly where it’s going and why.
A time to retreat from the extremely busy year of working, renovating, moving, etc.
And, I expect, a time to reflect, as well.
A time of learning from artist friends & associates/colleagues in the BIZ, who will be teaching.
&
As an extra bonus, a time to share the experience with my graphic artist daughter, Kate.
Keeping Up
I am a big believer in keeping busy but so far, 2014 has kept me hopping a bit more than I like. Slowing down does not seam to be an option and I suppose, that’s OK with me, for now.
So, for our latest activities in a nutshell:
• We’re in and beginning to operate in the new work space. In fact, yesterday we started our first project there, making fabric games for Operation Christmas Child’s shoe box ministry. Many of us enjoy this charitable opportunity at Christmas and it seamed a fitting way to kick off workshops at our new Joy Studio. If you are local (Pacific, MO) and would like to join us, we’re opening the work space on Mondays in September to make these and more. All supplies included for this free workshop. Drop me a line for directions.

Long Forgotten Projects
Uncovering some long forgotten projects as we continue the move to the new work space. And it’s beginning to look like there may be hundreds of them, collected over time. All with good intentions to complete, of course. Anyone else relate?
It feels good to finally tackle this one. Oak topped farm table.
It was covered with stubborn glue and old red marbled linoleum when we found it. Scraping, sanding and waxing the top but keeping the time worn white painted finish on the legs, apron and drawer fronts. A wonderful, naturally distressed piece.
The former, faithful drawing table companion, will serve as our desk in
the new Joy Studio Office.
