Freedoms taken away.

Freedom of speech. – My first (stronger, more specific) saved draft of this post suddenly and mysteriously disappeared, unretievable.
Freedom to worship. – I can no longer attend my local church.
Freedom from want. – I cannot purchase basic needs but rather in some cases decided for me.
Freedom from fear. – The daily news reports are terrorizing.

I am a licensed artist, not a strong politically minded person, not a conspiracy theorist. However, I am compelled to post this expression of my anger and a career decision. My (& yours) freedoms for the moment and foreseeable future have been taken away. In America!! Coincidence or intentional? What does your common sense tell you?
- Aside from numerous inconveniences, I am angry that I will not be spending this Easter holiday with my immediate family. I am angry that I cannot attend my local church. Two of the most important freedoms that were enjoyed my whole life, in America.
- Despite the costly personal loss, I will no longer license my art/Images and name to manufacturers whose product(s) are made in China. I should have addressed this several years earlier when my conscience was merely bothered. Now I take it personally, as though I have been attacked. My sincere apologies.

I have never expressed any political views and make it a point, but rather I stick to art and creativity only in my content up to now.
Please understand and again pardon me, I am deeply angered at WHO caused this attack on my country, and the world.
Would have never believed or conceived.
Wake up o sleeper? Eph. 5
Thank you. Well said. We may pay a cost in that critical goods will cost more, I for one, am happy to pay that cost for the peace of mind that we will not be dependent upon a regime that is destroying the planet, inflicting horrific abuses upon its citizens, and putting us all at risk with their deceit. Perhaps after this we will reevaluate our buying habits and cut out all the silly unnecessary “stuff” we have been so happily buying that is made in China. China lies, the world dies.
Please do not apologize for your feelings or your anger. I agree with you completely! The WHO and the Chinese Communist government are responsible for this horrific pandemic as they tried to hide the truth from the rest of the world. Let’s pray that it will soon end and we can begin to recover our countries and our lives. We must no longer be dependent on China, it’s well past time to bring our manufacturing back to North America. May God bless us all and keep us safe. BTW..coincidence?…I think not.
I honor you for the stand you are taking and join you in your decision. Thank you for being the strong woman that you are. May God continue to bless you!
I am right there with you on this. Sadly, so many things have caused our country deep change and damage.
Outsourcing to foreign countries, especially countries that are really not our allies, has been a huge mistake.
How did this happen? This is what makes me angry. I understand yours as well.
We have to decide if we want to become a producing nation instead of a junk purchasing nation.
Think about all of the fancy pans and pots with special lining, the cheap picture frames and fragile glasses
all of that stuff and made by a country that treats their people like slaves. They do not care about us.
Now China has their “millionaires” and they are traveling the world, and purchasing parts of our country. I am serious. They own large land portions of our land property. Then other Chinese investors build homes and buildings on this property, and that investment percentage goes straight to China.
This goes far far far deeper than anyone knows.
Shockingly, most people in this country are not aware, and don’t care.
I love all that you do, Janet. Keep learning. You will soon find out how deep this hole is.
Now we just need to find those people that have the leverage to get us the heck out.
I am grateful for internet. We can connect with family and there are so many beautiful Easter celebrations on our tv and internet. Use them.❤️
Right there with you! People so easily give up everything under the guise of safety.
Amen!
I wholeheartedly agree with everything you’ve said. It’s about time we Americans start relearning how to manufacture quality products within our own country, and take pride in doing so. And import other quality products we need from countries who share some of our American values. In a more of an aside, I can never part with scraps of your fabrics, even too small to make much…now I’m making face masks from a lot of them! Keep up with providing your creations on cloth. Find a new line, proudly made in the USA!
Thank you and love you sister ! We will keep are freedoms if we wake and stand
I appreciate all your words!! I love your art and feel for all artists right now. I am trying to do my part as a consumer and continue to purchase fabrics/kits, etc as I normally would!! I admire your tenacity! I love that you feel so strongly! I am saddened that tomorrow I am dropping off Easter goodies for my father….and then having a small celebration with my immediate family at my house on Sunday–which will include our streamed church service. It is difficult not to have everyone over to our home to celebrate all together. But, I have so many blessings, one of which is my faith. ( I adore your use of your faith in your fabric lines–I think that’s what first struck me about your designs!) Thank you for your honest post. You are heard, and loved! I think many people feel like you do–you are in good company! Happy Easter!
Michelle
AMEN. Thank you for putting that into words.
Thank you for being you. I am 91 and feel so sad for the world, and of course, for all of us who want to believe that “doing the right thing” will always make a difference. You are loved and admired, not only for your sparkling fabric, but for your ability to make us want to see things for what they really are.
Lisa
I’m right there with you.
Thank you! I applaud you having the strength of character to take this stand!
…and having done all, Stand.
I agree with your sentiments! The statement from Who sounded like a treat to me. If we don’t stand up for ours rights we will lose them! This situation should be a wake up call for everyone.
This is the wake up call that America and the rest of the world needed. I hope that when things settle down and the suffering eases up that people won’t become complacent again. I am proud of our country for taking control and revving up industry to meet some of our vital needs.
I also hope that people look into creating a safety net for themselves and their families (like Dave “debt free” Ramsey espouses). It’s a great concern that too many people appear to be living paycheck-to-paycheck, which would make something like this even more devastating. I understand some can’t save money, but many can and aren’t. I’m not being judgmental…I just care about everyone.
BRAVO! I applaud and respect your decision!!!
What we have is a feardemic. More of us need to speak up.
Bravo! I agree with you totally. We need to stop buying Chinese goods and make our own. Just like we needed to do with foreign oil. We CAN do it with God’s help. I surely see His hand in this, to bring us back to Him.
I love your fabrics – especially when I discovered the subtle Bible references. It makes me feel so good. Thank you
I am happy to pay more for your fabric and anything else if it is not made in a communist country!
I appreciate that Ginger, thank you.
Be grateful for what you have.
Hi Laura, I am very grateful, only angry at the same time. Yes, I recognize that I (and most Americans) have much, but I put a great value on the freedoms named.
