The little hand stitched heart in my last post, given to me by quilting friend Joan Ford, inspired these easy to make,
Dress Form Christmas Ornaments.
I started to make these for our display on the way to Spring Quilt Market earlier this year.
“Angel Band”
is our third Handmaids® collection in the series,
presented on fabric by Quilting Treasures.
Available in quilt shops now.
Sewing them became quite addicting. There are twenty four available in a twelve inch piece of the festive forms. First do a rough cut of any one of the dress forms, sandwich with an equal sized piece of coordinating backing (muslin if personalizing) and hi loft batting and begin stitching, following tight to the outside line of the image. Then trim with sharp scissors for a raw edge finish. I added a 1/8″ wide satin ribbon on the back to hang or tie onto a package. A great gift and tag, to use before placing on the tree.
Next, the plan is to embellish them, with a variety of found objects, sequence and beads.
We’ll see.
Love the fabric and the new ornament idea.
I would love a swag for my sewing room.
Love these. Has Janet Frisch seen them? She designed the Handmaids fabric.
In case you don’t know Janet was a rock star at Quilt Market. : )
These are so cute……I have to make some!
