Hello there!

It’s a

Riley Blake Designs

QUILT-ALONG

&

Yes, I’m actually (sewing) participating!

And I hope you will too.

It start’s today August 29th but you can jump in anytime.

All of the details are on the Riley Blake Designs blog.

Most of you know that I have been designing fabric for many years however, not as a quilter but rather from an art background with a little sewing experience thrown in. When I heard about Meet the Makers QAL project I thought it was time to see what all of the quilting/sewing passion I’ve been witnessing, was all about. So, I became quite determined to make each one of the four pieced blocks that the project calls for including the alternate/setting block. I don’t know if my beginner handicap will allow me to finish the whole quilt now but sew far, sew good.

I am enjoying learning as I go and welcome any and all sewing, piecing or quilting tips that you all can offer me.

I will be featuring my “Paperdoll” fabric collection for my blocks.

The collection is delivering to shops now.

My steps:

First I grabbed some blank artist canvases to use as design boards for my blocks and started cutting three inch squares. Then I began the auditioning process with it’s endless possibilities. I love this fabric! My decision, the reds from the group and white doll clothes with Riley Blake white for

Block # 1

I even cut up the panel!

Next . . . it was time to try my hand at making my first half square triangles!!!

Success, I think.

Finally, try stitching the rows together?!! This was intimidating but, I did it.

Corners didn’t line up completely but not too bad I suppose.

Ta-daa!

OKaay! This is fun and I might become a little addicted.

I plan to post my progress here on the Joy Studio blog each week.

Also on FB and Instagram

I hope you’ll join in the fun and

PLEASE,

let me know how I’m (and you’re) doing!
